ABOUT COMMUNITY CHRISTIAN CHURCH

Community Christian Church (also known as COMMUNITY) is a church that began as the dream of 5 friends from college who wanted to create a place that would help people find their way back to God. Services were first held in a High School cafeteria in 1989, and 8 years later, COMMUNITY launched its first additional location and became one of the pioneers in Multi-site Ministry.

COMMUNITY’s vision is three-fold. To be: 1) An Impact Church – A church that will have a lasting impact on the people and places we engage. 2) A Reproducing Church – A church that will start new campuses and churches worldwide. 3) A Catalyst for a Movement – In 2001, COMMUNITY formed NewThing, a church-planting mission that now includes churches all over the world.

Today COMMUNITY is one church in 4 expressions with 7 locations, Online services, Micro Churches, and a prison ministry.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Communication Director’s Responsibilities Include: 

  • Vision, strategy, and oversight of the communications team and resources.
  • Lead a team of communication, marketing, and design professionals.
  • Assist in the creation of digital, video, audio and print content.
  • Establish and drive a multi-channel communications strategy.
  • Website, Print, App, Email, Social Media (FB, IG, Twitter, YT, TikTok)
  • Utilize Rock RMS as our data-driven digital platform to create targeted informational campaigns through email, SMS, external web applications, and our app.
  • Utilize Rock “personas” (data-driven users to help with next steps and targeted communications).
  • Utilize Rock data integration with Studio C and our Apollos app to create targeted messaging designed to help attenders take Next Steps.
  • Oversee the maintenance and development of our website as a communications tool to reach new attenders.
  • Prepare and/or manage all communications content – internal and external.
  • Responsible for communication strategies and implementation to promote weekly message topics, associated Next Steps and church-wide initiatives.
  • Implement brand voice and maintain brand vision with integrity across all platforms.
  • Stay up to date with current trends and use social media to network with influencers to promote COMMUNITY & the mission.
  • Oversee communication channels and ensure the success of the locations and ministries of COMMUNITY.
  • Manage relationships with key leaders in the organization.
  • Direct COMMUNITY’s digital strategy as a hybrid church.
  • Track engagement across various platforms and make data-driven decisions.
  • Create a budget for the communications team and ensure compliance.

 

WHAT YOU BRING

The following describes many of the characteristics of the ideal candidate for the Communications Director:

  • Experience in developing and maintaining communications strategies.
  • Experience in customer and market research is a plus.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or equivalent professional qualification.
  • A minimum of 5 years of ministry experience (or comparable marketplace management experience combined with 5 years of volunteer leadership within the church).

Personal Characteristics & Qualifications

  • Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency with communications technologies.
  • Understanding of copywriting, graphic design, layout, and publishing.
  • Working knowledge of content management systems, basic HTML, and digital graphics production.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and social media marketing strategies.
  • Experience with SEO, Google Analytics, and Google AdWords
  • Impeccable copywriting and copy-editing abilities.
  • Strong leadership track record.
  • Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • This person commits to making COMMUNITY their church home, relocating, if necessary, near one of our physical locations in order to integrate fully into our church.
  • The Communications Director meets all other full-time staff requirements.
