Job Description

FCC is currently seeking a Director of Music Ministries to provide transformational leadership for vibrant

worship in a multi-denominational faith community that values a broad spectrum of musical genres and

styles. FCC is a loving, inclusive, Christ-centered, justice-oriented church in the south suburbs of Chicago,

Illinois.

Position Overview

  • Serves annually for ten months in a part-time capacity
  • Salary dependent on qualifications and experience
  • Includes directing and administrative duties in a team-work environment

General Qualifications

  • Possesses a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in music or music education
  • Includes a preferred minimum of 3 years experience as a leader in presenting worship music with a team in a faith community
  • Possesses strong musical performance and leadership skills
  • Demonstrates stylistic versatility in a variety of traditional and contemporary worship music genres (e.g., choral, handbell, instrumental, hymn, praise, jazz, spiritual, gospel)
  • Recognizes and has excitement for worship music that includes a broad base of musical genres
  • Demonstrates interpersonal and organizational skills for effective leadership

Specific Duties

  • Presenting music for weekly worship and special services
  • Developing the congregational song of our faith community
  • Encouraging, recruiting, rehearsing, and developing participants for worship music
  • Conducting rehearsals for one or more choirs of varied genres
  • Planning for dynamic worship through personal practice, selection of music, collaboration, and annual budget preparation
  • Maintaining an extensive music library and overseeing maintenance of church-owned music instruments and equipment including a Steinway Grand Piano and Casavant pipe organ
  • Supervising worship support staff
  • Offering occasional education opportunities for the faith community
  • Networking with local and regional musicians
