IFYC is working to make interfaith cooperation the norm in America. This starts in colleges and universities, where the minds and values of emerging leaders are shaped, and conversations take place that steer broad cultural change. We engage with leaders across the campus environment – faculty, staff, administration, and students. We offer the tools, guidance, opportunities, and networks needed to bring interfaith learning into their campuses, classrooms, research, and lives.

The Interfaith Leadership Institute (ILI) is the largest gathering of students and campus educators with a commitment to American religious pluralism. Each year, hundreds of people who care about the future of our religiously diverse society converge in Chicago to learn, train, share and get inspired to bring the movement for interfaith cooperation back to their campuses and communities. Over the course of three days, participants learn to bridge divides and forge friendships across lines of religious and worldview differences. The ILI is an IFYC Signature Program, located at the nexus of IFYC’s work that engages student leaders, university staff, and faculty. The Director of the ILI will be responsible for increasing the number of campuses attending the ILI each year, as well as keeping past and current attendees engaged beyond the ILI. Furthermore, the ILI Director will also oversee the development of programs situated within the ILI ‘ecosystem’ that equip student and staff audiences with additional skills and resources for engaging interfaith work on campus.

ILI Vision & Implementation
• Define, clarify, and execute ILI strategy in collaboration with leaders across the organization and in alignment with IFYC vision and strategy
• Develop and communicate a program vision for ILI to internal and external stakeholders; serve as the organizational face of ILI program for internal and external stakeholders
• Evaluate short-term and long-term ILI impact and outcomes; guide program shifts and changes for future ILIs including identifying strategic adjustments and managing change across the team
• Uphold responsibility for ILI impact and deliverables
• Develop and implement ILI staffing plans including overseeing selection, contracting, and training (as needed) for alumni trainers at ILI
• Liaise with Advancement Team to accommodate VIP guests at the ILI
• Oversee long-term planning for ILI, including final venue selection for future ILIs in collaboration with Special Events Manager and engaging in long-term program planning
• Develop innovative program ideas for the ILI in partnership with Senior Director of Leadership

ILI Content
• Design & implement ILI “content arc” that weaves all-participant sessions and training room curriculum together and is in alignment with IFYC vision, strategy, and goals
• Define overall learning outcomes for ILI audience, students, and educators
• Lead curriculum development for ILI tracks in collaboration with assigned program managers
• Lead selection process, invitations, contracts, and communications for external mainstage speakers at ILI
• Design and implement all-participant networking spaces at the ILI, including but not limited to: unconference, affinity circles, IFYC led workshops, campus partner workshops

ILI ‘Ecosystem’ Management & Implementation
• Oversee learning and engagement opportunities for campus staff and students beyond the ILI
• Monitor ILI campus staff and student audience networks in partnership with Director of Marketing and Communications
• Coordinate the “ILI Ecosystem”, i.e. IFYC programs for campus staff and student programs that are complementary to the ILI
• Liaise with Alumni Relations staff to foster student-to-young leader transitions

ILI Recruitment & Branding
• Develop, implement, and refine overall ILI recruitment strategy in collaboration with Senior Director of Leadership, Special Events Manager, and Director of Marketing and Communication (MC)
• Communicate recruitment priorities and updates to staff internally
• Collaborate with Special Events Manager and MC team to ensure consistent IFYC brand representation at the ILI, especially on mainstage
• Oversee ILI related content on IFYC’s website

Team Management
• Supervise Special Events Manager who is responsible for ILI logistics and administrative processes, as well as non-ILI events
• Delegate to an adaptive team of program manager(s) and a program assistant

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Four or more years’ experience and a record of success in program strategy, or related responsibilities in interfaith work, higher education, non-profit, government, and/or religious communities
• A proven record of experience in successful project management including goal setting, team coordination and systems support
• Ability to balance and prioritize multiple ongoing projects, as well as meet deadlines with a high degree of excellence
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
• Authorization to work in the United States

• Graduate degree in religion, higher education, organizational management, youth development, or related field
• Experience leveraging interfaith leadership in a variety of settings
• Training/ facilitation, curriculum design, consulting, pedagogy, or related skillsets
• Supervision/ management (direct or indirect) of individuals with diverse working styles and backgrounds
• High level of religious literacy; fluency in pluralism and an “engaging deep differences” approach to diversity
• Experience working with college students or other young people

• Educator: strong sense of curriculum writing, pedagogy, and leadership theory with an ability to map learning experiences to student growth and development
• Relational: able to build relationships across multiple constituencies; able to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds; able to leverage relationships and interactions toward program and organizational goals
• Team and organizational leader: strong supervisor who can capitalize on limited human resources while taking ultimate responsibility to get the job done; ability to work independently under general supervision and facilitate cross-organization collaboration
• Driven entrepreneur: deep commitment to personal and team success with the ability to have maximum impact with available resources; a work ethic that corresponds to the loftiness of the organizational mission
• Creative and adaptable: willing to try new things and adapt to natural changes within a dynamic organization
• Trusted advisor: acts as an internal and external consultant within their area of expertise
• Project manager: effectively moves projects forward, creates timelines, delegates work packets and holds teammates accountable
