We are believers, doubters, and searchers from across the theological spectrum and include people of faith from a broad mix of religious backgrounds who celebrate worship that is inspiring and creative. We belong to the United Church of Christ (also called the UCC) a Protestant tradition rich in progressive thought and action. We are an “Open and Affirming Congregation,” (ONA) and are commited to social justice action. We are committed to action in the community and have worked on projects related to racial justice, mental health, environmental sustainability, and LGBTQ inclusion. Our pastor, Rev. Nicolette Siragusa, is a graduate from Chicago Theological Seminary and University of Chicago’s School of Social Service Administration. Now in her fifteenth year of ministry, she has served as a solo pastor in three congregations and supervised interns and mentored students in the ordination process.
The intern will work with the pastor to develop learning goals and the responsibilities will be tailored to those goals. Prior interns supervised by Rev. Nicolette have focused on pastoral care and counseling, general ministry, preaching, and ministry with children. The intern will be invited to participate in all aspects of church life, but expected to focus their time an energy on just a few. If preaching and worship leadership is a learning goal, the intern will be invited to preach at least once per month and co-lead and co-develop special services for Advent and Lent.
