Job Description:
The Senior Minister is the spiritual leader of our congregation as well as the administrative head of the Church’s staff. As a Congregational Church, we emphasize participation by our members on boards and committees to oversee the operations of the Church in conjunction with the Senior Minister and other Church staff. The Senior Minister reports to our Executive Council. The Senior Minister and Church staff are subject to the provisions contained in our Personnel Policy Handbook.
Principal Responsibilities
Preaching and Worship — leading Sunday worship (hybrid: in person and live streamed), working with our Director of Music on our worship music program, officiating at weddings, funerals, and other special services.
Pastoral Care — providing pastoral care to the congregation and others through visitation, phone calls, counseling and prayer.
Church Membership and Development — working with Church Boards to grow membership, expand involvement, and promote financial stewardship.
Christian Education, Mission, and Service — promoting and guiding an active education program for children and adults, encouraging Church mission activity, being actively involved in Congregational Associations.
Administration — managing Church staff, directing the day-to-day operations of the Church.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited and/or Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) institution
Master of Divinity or similar Master’s Degree from an institution accredited by the Association of Theological Schools (ATS)
Prior experience in parish ministry (minimum five years preferred)
Continuing education and training beyond the Master of Divinity (preferred)
Complete Congregational polity training offered by the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches
